COE Names New Director of Development

Damien Williams, UTSA College of Engineering Director of Development PortraitThe University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) College of Engineering is pleased to announce the appointment of Damien Williams as Director of Development. Williams—a native of Edmond, Oklahoma—joins the UTSA College of Engineering from the Oklahoma State University Foundation (OSUF) where he was the Director of Development for the College of Arts and Sciences. Prior to his post at OSUF, Williams served as the Director of Development for Graduate and Research Programs at The University of Oklahoma.

As the development officer for the College of Engineering, Williams will lead the development team as the college implements its strategic plan, Destination: Excellence 2016, which supports UTSA 2016: A Shared Vision, UTSA’s strategic plan that envisions UTSA becoming one of the preeminent public research universities in Texas.

Recognizing UTSA’s ardent dedication to its students, community and the educational sphere, Williams saw the decision to serve as the College of Engineering’s Director of Development an easy one. “I want to be able to make a difference in the lives of students and to work with alumni, donors and friends of UTSA to make a college education more accessible,” explains Williams. “Those things are accomplished through a strong vision and strong leadership, both of which I observed during my campus visit. In many ways, as the first person in my family to pursue a Ph.D., The University of Texas at San Antonio chose me.”

In addition to helping promote the vision and mission of the College of Engineering and UTSA, Williams will be responsible for alumni and corporate relations, annual gifts, scholarships and endowments.

Williams holds a master’s in Higher Education and College Teaching, and is completing his Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership.
